So on to my 52nd tournament and this time around we got my boy O coming back to play me in NBA2K22 at Battle Wars. Funny story, me and Oschino played each other in a championship game in 2K before. The 215 swag store was a place on 5th and tabor road that many people knew about that sold CD/DVD’s of industry & local philly rappers back in the day. I would say this was about 2009-2010 because this the year Lebron had Shaq on his team and they was unstoppable lol. Now that I write about this we both was outta pocket because we each was using the same team against each other which I hate now. He actually won too and I’m not completely sure but I believe that he won either $500 or $1000 this day.
But to be honest the connection came way before that. The crazy part is he don’t even know about this story I’m about to tell to why I actually have him hosting what about 3 tournaments now. But it was one time back in the day I’m like 15- 16 probably I had a old-head I really looked up too that guided me coming up name Dave. So one of Dave’s closest friends got shot in Philly and you know in the hospital trying to recover in stable condition though. Well I knew that this friend was a real big Oshcino fan back when State Property was poppin.
So for some strange reason Dave happen to see Oschino passing by on Broad Street on his way to go see him at the hospital. Dave winds up pulling over to go tell him about the situation & see if he can do anything such as call him to give him advice or words of encouragement knowing how big of a fan he was. If you didn’t know this already but I believe Oschino got shot like 7 or 8 times once before and survived so of course he can give advice on how he handled everything. How about not just call Rome (which was Dave friend name) he went to go see him at the hospital and chopped it up with him and all.
Ever since I knew about that situation, I had a different level of respect for him as a person in general because he didn’t have to do any of that. So then comes me getting involved with the Philly Rap Scene back in 2008- 2010. I had worked with several different rappers many of you know today & I also had a couple different projects with Oschino. We actually had a CD we put together name Breaking All The Rules vol 2 which was fire and the relationship grew from there. Many people might not even notice this but on the WhoRunPhilly2K Instagram page I only follow 26 people this includes past tournament winners, People I know, & Oschino.
